The Resort Commits itself as a Champion of the Local Environment with Programs Dedicated to Conserving Native Sea Turtles

NEW YORK, New York –Located on the Southern coast of Bali, the pristine beaches of The Ritz-Carlton, Bali are the natural location of choice for nesting sea turtles, who flock to these white sands as the ideal place to lay their eggs. True to its dedication to preserving the environment, The Ritz-Carlton, Bali is committed to protecting and conserving these incredible creatures for years to come. This being the first year the resort is open, the hotel launched its conservation program this year, with several releases, and plans to help safeguard hatching sea turtles for many seasons to come.

As part of the brand-wide Community Footprints program, the team at The Ritz-Carlton, Bali partners with the Bali Sea Turtle Society to assist in the conservation of hatching sea turtles. The first few minutes after hatching are among the most dangerous of a young turtle's life, as they must cross the beach, avoiding predators and heat, to find safety in the waves. It is at this crucial moment that the resort and its guests step in to assist these animals. Starting when the eggs are first laid, the resort erects a fence around the nest for security and once hatched transfers the baby turtles to a safe "temporary home" where they are guarded from predators around the clock. Once experts deem the turtles strong enough, guests, along with the Ladies and Gentlemen of The Ritz-Carlton, Bali, can help release these delicate creatures into the nourishing waters of the Indian Ocean, where they will have the chance to grow and mature.

During the hatch season, guests are invited to join the release with a personalized letter at turndown accompanied by a delicious turtle-shaped cake. Starting on the beach at 9 a.m., guests have the chance to learn more about conservation and to walk with the turtles as they make their way to the water. Children have the unique privilege of being the first to go, each receiving a Ritz Kids T-shirt identifying themselves as ambassadors of the environment, and 'racing' to the ocean alongside the young turtles. Adults then follow in the children's footsteps as the remaining turtle's splash safely into the ocean.

This dedication to conserving sea turtles is continued in the resort's Ritz Kids club, where turtle-themed decorations build excitement for the hatch season and teach young guests about the importance of preserving the local environment. Witnessing and participating in this incredible natural wonder is truly inspiring for young guests, who often come from cities, allowing them to learn about animals, conservation and the environment via inspiring firsthand experiences.
Sea Turtle hatching season in Bali is from March to October each year, and guests are invited to participate whenever there is an active hatch. With the continued success of this season, the resort looks forward to activating this program for many years to come with guests assisting in conserving sea turtles on Bali's beaches.

The Ritz-Carlton, Bali opened in February 2015, aspiring to create a meaningful Balinese journey for guests, allowing them to experience the best of the Island of Gods.
